Shoreview, MN- TSI welcomed Dr. Chunli Bai, president of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and the Graduate University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (GUAC), to the annual L.M. Fingerson/TSI Incorporated Distinguished Lecture (April 27, 2011) at the University of Minnesota, an annual event co-sponsored by the company.
Dr. Bai’s presentation entitled, Nano Science and Technology: Challenges and Opportunities, was delivered to a large audience interested in the important role nanoscience will play in the next science and technology revolution. Professor Bai spoke from experience, having been instrumental in furthering China’s nanoscience and technology research both as a scientist and a policy-maker. As chief scientist of National Steering Committee for Nanoscience and Related Technology, as well as founding director and Council Chairman of the National Center for Nanoscience and Technology in China, Dr. Bai has initiated and coordinated a number of national key projects related to nano science.
Following the lecture, TSI Inc. hosted a luncheon for Dr. Bai, as well as Professor Chen Wang, Director of China National Center for Nanoscience and Technology, Professor Yong Deng, Chairman of University Council of GUCAS, and a number of their colleagues, during which the group toured TSI’s headquarters and met with TSI’s CEO, Tom Kennedy. The visitors also learned more about TSI’s involvement in nano science as the leading manufacturer of precision measurement instrumentation used in many nano related applications including; the sizing and counting of nano particles in aerosols and aqueous solutions for research into indoor air quality, toxicology, and emissions as well as quality assurance for carbon nanotubes and other nano material manufacturers.
