Investigating Turbulent Boundary Layer Flow Structures Using 4-Camera Volumetric PIV
    Shoreview, MN

This webinar will focus on turbulent boundary layer structure measurements, taken by a 4-camera volumetric PIV system, revealing the development of the hairpin vortices. Four high-pixel resolution cameras, each with 8 million pixel resolution, were employed to capture the boundary layer flow. An Nd:YAG pulse laser with 380 mJ energy per pulse provided the illumination. The complete volumetric flow structure was captured with the system, giving the instantaneous and time-averaged u, v, and w  velocity components. Flow quantities including the iso-surfaces of vorticity provided the information for the development of the hairpin vortices.
