AEROSOL TIME-OF-FLIGHT MASS SPECTROMETERS
TSI offers two Aerosol Time-of-Flight Mass Spectrometers (ATOFMS) for single particle size and chemical composition analysis. Series 3800 instruments include Aerodynamic Focusing Lens technology for a higher sampling efficiency and analysis rate. Models 3800-030 and 3800-100 transmit particles in the range from 30to 300 nm and 100 to 3000 nm, respectively.
The ATOFMS uses an aerodynamic sizing technique to size individual particles in real time. Then, it desorbs and ionizes some particles for chemical analysis in a bipolar, time-of-flight mass spectrometer. With MS-Control software, version 5.1 and 1GB of memory. It is capable of saving positive and negative mass spectra at a rate of up to 19 particles per second.
Because it identifies specific chemical compounds that make up each particle, the ATOFMS offers new insights into the dynamic chemistry of an aerosol sample.
