HVAC TESTING AND BALANCING
Fact: Building owners want their buildings to be greener. Green buildings can reduce building operating costs—the resulting energy savings can be significant. Another benefit is the reduction of risk for indoor environmental quality problems.
HVAC systems initially installed in a building will usually not function at design specifications automatically upon start-up. Adjusting a system to function at design conditions requires testing, adjusting and balancing (TAB) of control devices. TAB is the method used to calibrate the environmental settings within the building. Goals include meeting occupant comfort requirements, achieving HVAC design specifications, extending maintenance intervals, energy conservation, and efficient operation.
Many existing buildings have experienced some type of change from their original design, such as renovation and new construction, or a change of function to one drastically different from the original intended usage. In such cases new testing and balancing is critical to ensure maximum operating efficiency while providing comfort to occupants. Some buildings may require balancing throughout the year as the system switches over from heating to cooling mode and vice versa. TSI manufactures a wide range of precision instruments commonly used in the TAB process.
