SIDEPAK™ AM510 PERSONAL AEROSOL MONITOR
The SIDEPAK™ AM510 Personal Aerosol Monitor is a rugged, lightweight, belt mounted laser photometer, weighing as little as 16 oz. It is compact and quiet, minimizing interference and worker discomfort. The built-in sampling pump lets you attach a wide variety of size-selective inlet conditioners for worker breathing zone or area measurements with a respirable cyclone or one of the three integrated impactors. The AM510 comes with TSI's Smart Battery Management System™, which includes long-running NiMH or alkaline battery packs and provides precise run time information in minutes remaining.
The AM510 personal aerosol monitor's easy-to-read display shows your data in both real-time aerosol mass concentration and 8-hour time-weighted average (TWA). With its convenient data logging and long battery life, the monitor is also ideal for extended sampling. Easy-to-use TRAKPRO™ Data Analysis Software lets you pre-program sampling events and create effective graphs and reports. Available in single- and 3-unit kits.

- Can I measure other particle size ranges with the SIDEPAK™ AM510?
Yes. The SIDEPAK™ AM510 is supplied with inlet conditioners (impactors) that allow 10, 2.5, or 1.0 microns. Additionally, the SIDEPAK™ AM510 is supplied with a 10-millimeter Nylon Dorr-Oliver Cyclone for respirable sampling with a cut-off at 4 microns. All of the impactors and the Dorr-Oliver Cyclone need to be adjusted to a flow rate of 1.7 L/min.
- Can I measure respirable aerosol mass concentration with the SIDEPAK™ AM510 personal aerosol monitor?
Yes. The SIDEPAK™ AM510 is supplied with a 10 millimeter Nylon Dorr-Oliver Cyclone which provides a particle size cut-off at 4 microns (internationally accepted as the 50% cut-off size for respirable aerosol mass).
- Can I use a different cyclone on the SIDEPAK™ AM510?
Yes. The flow rate of the SIDEPAK™ AM510 may need to be and can be adjusted to the rate specified with the new cyclone. The SIDEPAK™ AM510's flow rate can be adjusted between 0.7 and 1.8 L/minute. Therefore, the cyclone must operate within these flowrates.
- Can I use the SIDEPAK™ AM510 outdoors?
Yes. The SIDEPAK™ AM510 has been used outdoors but it is not considered weatherproof, so it is not suitable for long-term, unattended operation in harsh environmental conditions (i.e., rain, snow, etc.).

- What is the measurement range of the SIDEPAK™ AM510 personal aerosol monitor?
The mass concentration range is 0.001 to 20 mg/m³. The particle size range is 0.1 to 10 microns.
- What is the warm-up time of the SIDEPAK™ AM510?
When the SIDEPAK™ AM510 is first turned on, it takes about a minute for the instrument to settle down to a stable reading. After warm-up, stable readings can be obtained in 10-15 seconds.
- What type of device is the SIDEPAK™ AM510 personal aerosol monitor?
The SIDEPAK™ AM510 is a laser photometer. The sensing mechanism consists of a laser diode directed at the aerosol stream. Scattered light is collected with optics and a photodetector at 90° to the light beam. The intensity of the scattered light is a function of the particle mass concentration.
