    Particle Instruments Trade-in Program

TSI is pleased to announce that the Particle Instruments trade-in program has been extended through the end of 2007. For select instruments, TSI will give you a trade-in discount of up to 15%, credited toward the purchase of new instrument, when you tender an equivalent older model in trade. Best of all, your old instrument doesn’t even have to be working! The program is intended to replace older instruments that no longer represent the latest technology and have become increasingly expensive for you to maintain or impossible to repair due to the age of the instruments components. Qualifying instruments include:

    • CPC Models 3020, 3022, 3022A, 3025, 3025A, 3760, 3760A, 3762, 3010, 7610 & 7620
    • APS Models 3300, 3310 & 3310A
    • Electrostatic Classifier Models 3071 & 3071A

And remember, these older models do not need to be operational to qualify for the trade-in! For more information about the trade-in program, please contact TSI for details.

Please use promotional code TIPAR1207 when ordering. Offer valid until 12-31-07.

Diffusion Loss Algorithm for the SMPS
    Free Upgrade!

TSI has developed a Diffusion Loss Algorithm for the Aerosol Instrument Manager™ software used with TSI Model 3936 series SMPS. It is well known that a significant amount of particles smaller than 0.1 µm (100 nm) are lost in transport due to diffusion losses. Gormley and Kennedy published their classic equation for diffusion losses in a circular tube in 1949! Now, you can simply toggle the Diffusion Loss Algorithm 'ON' to account for these diffusion losses in the SMPS component system. This algorithm can be applied to previously collected data and is available at no charge to existing customers using the SMPS component system and Aerosol Instrument Manager™ software.

To receive your free upgrade, please contact TSI at particle@tsi.com with the instrument model numbers and the serial numbers of your SMPS system components. For complete information on this upgrade and the applicable instruments, download Application Note SMPS-001.

Nanoparticle Aggregate Mobility Analysis for the SMPS
    The World Isn't a Sphere!

A new method for analyzing mobility of nanoparticle aggregates has been developed and recently incorporated in the Aerosol Instrument Manager® Software (version 8.0) for TSI Model 3936 series SMPS. This method yields a more accurate estimate of the number, surface area and volume distributions of nanoparticle aggregates. The software module may be used for post-processing of previously collected SMPS data. It simply provides an alternative processing of the same primary data.

Aggregates are prevalent and important in the study of:

    • Combustion Generated Aerosols
    • Materials Synthesis & Nanoparticle manufacturing
    • Ambient & Environmental Monitoring
    • Inhalation Toxicology
Existing SMPS customers may upgrade their Aerosol Instrument Manager software for a nominal fee. For more information contact your local TSI representative or send an e-mail to particle@tsi.com. Aggregate Mobility Analysis is discussed in detail in Application Note SMPS-002 which can be downloaded from the TSI web site.

New Analog Outputs for Engine Exhaust Particle Sizer™ (EEPS™) Spectrometer
The TSI Model 3090 Engine Exhaust Particle Sizer™ (EEPS™) spectrometers now come standard with four configurable analog outputs. These analog outputs offer users a convenient way to incorporate particle emission measurements into the dynamometer host data collection system.. Our new application note EEPS-001 Model 3090 Engine Exhaust Particle Sizer™ (EEPS™) Spectrometer Analog Output offers a detailed description of this new feature.

UPGRADE: If you have an EEPS you can add this feature to your instrument by ordering a 3090-UPGRADE and sending your instrument to TSI to add this new feature. Contact your Regional Sales managers or your local Representatives for details.
