Dr. Greg Petersen leads a workshop on "Modern Software Design for Physicists"

TSI Senior Data Analytics Engineer Greg Petersen ran a 3-day workshop this summer at Ohio University, his alma mater.

Ohio University alumnus Greg Petersen was back on campus this summer. Petersen earned a Ph.D. in Condensed Matter Physics in 2013 from Ohio U. After earning his doctorate, TSI hired him as an Algorithm Engineer and he now leads a predictive modeling and simulation team.

In August, Petersen took a break from his job as Senior Data Analytics Engineer at TSI to lead a workshop for physics and engineering students. "Modern Software Design for Physicists," a 3-day seminar, introduced students to software systems design and architecture. Petersen describes his workshop as "a way of helping physics majors or physics graduate students learn modern design principles and help them achieve faster research goals." The workshop was organized by the Ohio University Nanoscale and Quantum Phenomena Institute and the Department of Physics and Astronomy.
