The webinar will feature the following topics:

Close Range Aerosol Transmission of COVID-19

Important features of transmission for infectious respiratory diseases, such as COVID-19, are missing from the traditional infection control paradigm. Topics covered will include:

  • The limited but ever-growing dataset supporting SARS-CoV-2 close-range aerosol transmission
  • How aerosol transmission could happen in healthcare settings
  • What resources healthcare workers should have to protect themselves

Respirators Beyond N95s and Respirator Fit Test Methods

Currently there are widespread shortages of respiratory protection, particularly filtering facepieces. What are the options available and how can you maximize the protection they can provide? Topics covered will include:

  • The basic features of filtering facepiece respirators (FFRs) like N95s, and what other types of respirators can be used if FFRs are in low supply.
  • The use of more protective designs, such as powered air purifying respirators.
  • Differences between qualitative and quantitative fit testing for respiratory protection, the pros and cons of each method, and why fit testing is important.

Fit Testing Respirators in Less Time

What challenges are fit test administrators facing and how they can have staff better prepared? Topics covered will include:

  • Time and resource challenges
  • The shortcomings of the qualitative fit testing method
  • How quantitative respirator fit testing with PortaCount instruments can help healthcare professionals and respiratory protection programs be better prepared in less time
