1. How do I know that the BlueSky™ Air Quality Monitor is posting data to TSI Link™ Solutions?

  • There are two ways to verify this:

    1. Look at the LED light on the bottom of your BlueSky monitor. When connected to the Wi-Fi, it should flash once every 2 seconds.

    2. Go TSI Link Solutions at www.tsi.com/tsi-link/. Then, search for the serial number (on the bottom of your monitor), look for the status, and find the last posted data point.

2. Is my data private?

  • When you activate your BlueSky monitor(s), you can set up your data to be viewable to other TSI Link Solutions users. If you do not wish to make your data public to all other TSI Link Solutions users, you can choose to keep it private. Please note that, even if your data is not viewable to all users, you can share your data with other specific TSI Link Solutions users.

3. Can TSI see my data? Who else can see my data?

  • Yes, TSI can see all BlueSky monitor data, as we host TSI Link Solutions. If you have decided to keep your data private when you activated your device, only you and TSI will be able to see your data.  If you chose to make your data viewable by all TSI Link Solutions users, that BlueSky monitor’s data will be able to be seen by anyone logged into TSI Link Solutions.

4. Is my data secure?

  • The data on TSI Link Solutions is fully authenticated and encrypted. TSI offers a default Transport Layer Security (TLS) 1.2 connection, which can downgrade to TLS 1.1 or 1.0 as necessary.

What are the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) and Transport Security Layer (TLS) protocols?

SSL and TLS are widely used protocols designed to transport data securely between a client and a server. In the 1990s, SSLs enabled the beginning of secure commerce on the Internet. Its modern counterpart, TLS, is used by web browsers and servers to protect the privacy of today’s web communications. When a URL address contains HTTPS, the 'S' stands for secure, and indicates that data is being transmitted securely using one of these protocols. TSI Link Solutions URL: www.tsi.com/tsi-link/.

Once inside TSI Link Solutions, data is transmitted using Mutual TLS (mTLS). mTLS authentication ensures that traffic is both secure and trusted in both directions (to and from) as well as between ingress load balancers and backend services.

User identity is authenticated using Auth0 (https://auth0.com). Once authenticated, a signed OAuth 2.0 JSON Web Token is transmitted along with every call to service APIs. Services validate these tokens and validate that the token presented is authorized to perform the requested action.

5. Is my data on the SD card encrypted?

  • The SD card will not have any type of encryption. The protection measures for the SD card are in the design of the BlueSky Air Quality Monitor – it is required to take the bottom and top pieces of the monitor apart to remove the SD card from the main board.

6. What is the format of the data on the SD card?

  • The data on the SD card is in .csv format.

7. I need .csv-formatted data. How do I get this data over a specific time period?

  • TSI Link Solutions offers the option to export your historical BlueSky monitor data as a .csv file. The report includes the following information: timestamp, PM2.5, PM10, PM sensor status, temperature, relative humidity, and device status.

    Device Status:
    0 (device rebooted)
    1 (SDCARD write failed)
    2 (cloud disconnected)
    3 (case sensor error)
    4 (PM sensor error)
    5 (realtime clock battery low)
    6 (timestamp stale)
    7 (timestamp time invalid)

    Sensor Status:
    0 (uncalibrated)
    1 (cleaning occurred)
    2 (initialization error)
    3 (internal error)
    4 (timeout)
    5 (communication error)
    6 (checksum error)
    7 (data error)
    8 (fan error)

8. What is the data format on TSI Link Solutions?

  • Data is sent to TSI Link Solutions in a binary string. The components of the binary string are: the time stamp, PM2.5 and PM10 mass concentrations, temperature, relative humidity (RH), overall monitor status, and status of the PM sensor.

9. What are the default data measurement units for both the SD card and TSI Link Solutions?

  • Mass concentration data is reported in ug/m3, temperature is listed in °C, and humidity is recorded as a percentage (%RH).

10. Should data on TSI Link Solutions match the data on the SD card?

  • Yes.

11. Can I save data on the SD card at a different rate/interval than TSI Link Solutions?

  • No, the data is stored on the SD is at the same rate as the logging interval for the data reporting on TSI Link Solutions.
