MOUDI™ II Impactor Model 120R

Model Number: 120R

The MOUDI™ II Impactor Model 120R is a high-resolution rotating cascade impactor designed for precise aerosol size fractionation from 10 µm to 56 nm. Operating at 30 L/min, it combines sharp cut-size performance, low particle losses, and uniform particle deposition to support accurate gravimetric and chemical analyses across a wide range of aerosol research applications.

Product Details

The MOUDI™ II 120R is a second-generation Micro-Orifice Uniform Deposit Impactor (MOUDI™) that incorporates ten impaction stages plus a final filter and an inlet stage with an 18 µm cut point. The impactor separates particles into four equal geometric intervals per decade of particle size, providing detailed aerosol size distribution measurements from coarse to ultrafine particles.

Thousands of precision micro-orifice nozzles minimize pressure drop, particle bounce, and re-entrainment while maintaining sharp cut-size performance and low inter-stage losses. Individual stepper motors continuously rotate each impaction plate during sampling, producing quasi-uniform particle deposits that improve sample quality and support quantitative chemical analysis.

The integrated PLC-based control system with touch-screen interface allows users to program sampling schedules, control pumps, monitor operating conditions, and record instrument data throughout the sampling period. Temperature and pressure measurements are automatically logged and can be downloaded for further analysis. Ethernet connectivity enables remote instrument operation.

Interchangeable impaction plates, filter holders, and sealed transport covers simplify sample preparation and help preserve sample integrity during transport and storage.
